Paris, one of the fashion capitals of the world has a long history of producing some of the world’s most prominent designers. Now, you can find Paris fashion in the form of an online marketplace and this concept has been doing quite good!
According to TechCrunch, Paris-based online fashion marketplace, Carnet de Mode, recently announced raising $1.5 million in Series A funding led by Elaia Partners. The fashionista startup previously raised 100,000 euros in 2012, totaling their funding to $1.8 million. The French startup will use the new capital to expand the team, invest in marketing, and launch its multi-brad boutiques segment. They will also focus on expanding internationally, hoping to attract more consumers and designers outside of France.
Founded in 2011 by Arbia Smiti, Carnet de Mode currently works with over 200 designer stores and 6000 exclusive fashion items. They have seen 50% month over month growth in sales while attracting customers everywhere, publishing 30 new designers each month into its catalogue. With the goal to becoming an international “discoverer,” Carnet de Mode offers brands access to an international audience, and customers get to access emerging brands, it’s a win-win situation.
Carnet de Mode currently allows over 200 new designers to create a personalized e-shop to display their collections and manage their sales and logistics worldwide. Although they claim to be the first fashion discovering platform in France, Smiti states that they will be running up against the likes of Farfetch.
